The Disney College Program is an exciting opportunity to build your resume while gaining work experience in the Happiest Place on Earth!
Below I'll walk you through the four step process to getting an offer for the Disney College Program.
Application
The first part of the process is the application itself! The DCP app drops twice a year, once for those applying for Fall Advantage/Fall and once for those applying for Spring Advantage/Spring. A lot of people recommend filling out the application as soon as it drops, but I personally don't think that's necessary. I actually didn't realize applications had dropped, happened across the application a month later while looking at Disney Professional Internships, applied on a whim, and was accepted! The application itself is pretty standard. It took me about 15 minutes to complete.
Web Based Interview
At some point after you submit your application you'll receive an email asking you to complete a web-based interview. This could happen a few hours after you initially submit your application to a few weeks later. The web-based interview was the part I was most nervous about, but honestly it's nothing to fret over. Just make sure you sit down in a quite area and give yourself enough time to answer. This was a fairly straightforward process because all the questions are about you!
Phone Interview
Immediately after your web-based interview you'll find out if you're moving forward in the process. If you are you'll be asked to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview is something you want to prepare for. There are many excellent resources on the internet to use! My number one piece of advice in preparing for the phone interview would be to make sure you go over your resume and know how to talk about everything on it, just in case you're asked.
Again, like most other parts of the application process, the phone interview was pretty straight forward. The recruiter can call you anywhere from 15 minutes before to 15 minutes after your selected interview time, so make sure you pick a time that really works for you. After your phone interview is done you become a member of the waiting game! It can take you anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to find out if you were accepted into the program.
It varies how quickly you get an offer after your phone interview. I was lucky enough that I was given an offer in the first wave after my phone interview took place. Just remember no news is good news! If you haven't heard anything it means you're still being in consideration.
Audition
One final part of the application process is the Character Performer audition. This is only a requirement if you want to become a character performer during your DCP. The auditions happen over a two week time frame all across the US and have no relation to whether you get accepted to the program in general.
I actually went to an audition the day before my phone interview and brought it up during my interview. The recruiter I was talking too said we weren't going to waste our time talking about it because those decisions are made by a completely different department. In another post I'll talk more in depth about the audition process.
Good luck on your application! I hope this explained the general application process a bit better and if there's any part you want to know more about be sure to check out my other posts!
