Part 2 discusses the web based interview in more detail.
Congratulations! You've made it past the initial application stage and have moved on to the web based interview (WBI). Below find information on what to expect when taking your WBI.
Preparing for the WBI
One important thing to note is that your WBI results stay on file for 6 months meaning if you fail you cannot apply for any other Disney positions that require a WBI during that 6 month time frame.
The WBI isn't something you can really prepare for because it is asking you questions about yourself; questions that only you know the answers to. What helped me though was knowing what to expect. The focus of the WBI is asking you about both your living and working habits as well as your personality overall. There's no right or wrong way to answers the questions, just answer truthfully to who you are.
Taking the WBI
Once you are offered a WBI you have three days to take the assessment. This means you don't have to take it right away and can find a time in your schedule that works well, however, remember to be aware of the time frame because you don't want to miss your chance! The WBI is timed, however, you are given ample time to answer all of the questions and carefully read through them. None of the questions are hard though because they're all about you, so don't be scared about the time limit! Make sure you set enough time aside and go to a quite place free from distractions to take the WBI. The maximum it should take is 40 minutes to complete.
WBI Results
Immediately after taking the WBI you find out if you got a phone interview.
The nice thing about the WBI stage of the application process is you find out immediately whether or not you're moving on to the next stage. This is a nice change from all the other stages of the application process where you could be waiting in limbo for an undetermined amount of time. After you complete the WBI a page will pop up saying Next Steps: Phone Interview or unfortunately you are no longer in consideration. If you move on to the phone interview you will receive an email telling you how to schedule the interview. If you are NLIC'd then unfortunately this is the end of the application process for you.
My WBI Process
I found out I was moving forward to the WBI round of the application process 6 days after I initially submitted my application. This was something else I was stressed about because I had a friend apply the day after I did and he got his WBI the next day. So I just want to reiterate everyone moves through the process at their own pace so don't worry!
When I read the email about my WBI I was literally jumping around my room I was so ecstatic! I immediately called my parents to tell them I moved on to the WBI and had planned to take it the next morning after the excitement wore off. But the longer I thought about it the more I wanted to take it right then and there because I knew immediately after taking the WBI I would find out if I was moving forward to the phone interview or not.
The WBI was also for me the most terrifying part of the process because it's basically assessing whether or not your personality would be a good fit with the Disney company and you can't change your personality. I was both excited and terrified to find out if I would be moving on. So two hours after I got the email I sat down to take my WBI. I shut off my phone, so I wouldn't be distracted and began.
Overall, the WBI took me about 30 minutes to complete because I wanted to really make sure I read all the questions correctly. The WBI itself wasn't hard because it was just asking me questions about who I was as a person and how I operate. Honestly, while I was taking it I thought I was taking it wrong because I kept clicking the same response for every statement. It's like when you get a few C's in a row on a Scantron test and automatically think you're doing something wrong.
After I finished the WBI a screen popped up saying I would be moving on to the phone interview! Again I was through the roof with excitement and sat down with my calendar to schedule a time for my phone interview. To read about my phone interview process see the next post!
