How To Stay Informed During the DCP Application Process

So you've submitted your application and now the waiting begins. But is there a way to kind of know what's going on? Read on to find out!

I went into the DCP application process pretty blind. It was something I had always considered doing and had friends who had participated, but apart from knowing what the program was about and knowing where to apply I didn't know much else.

One key thing I discovered was the application process moves in waves.

This means that a large group of people will see movement in their application all at once. This could be movement from application received to WBI or movement from after your phone interview to whether or not you received an offer. Knowing when these waves come out can help keep you from constantly stressing about where you are in the application process.

So, how do I stay informed about these waves you may ask. There are two main ways to stay informed. Through Facebook or Twitter. I'll go into a bit of detail about each and share with you my preferred platform.

There are tons of Facebook groups dedicated to DCP hopefuls and a lot of people join them while in the application process. This was not something I did, and later on I will provide a post for my explanation of why I didn't join a Facebook group until after I was accepted into the DCP. But there are perks of being in a Facebook group including having access to a plethora of information about the application process. You will be informed when new waves drop as well as what other people's application timelines look like. However, I have heard though that these Facebook groups can get pretty cut throat. And another thing is these Facebook groups are generally closed which means you need a Facebook account in order to access the group.

The other option is to go to Twitter and follow Recruiter Christy. Christy is absolutely amazing during the application process and tweets out when new waves are released. Her page is filled with positivity and really keeps you informed directly from the source. The other thing I really enjoyed about using Recruiter Christy's page to stay informed was you don't need a Twitter to see her posts. I'm not active on Twitter, so I just always had Recruiter Christy pulled up on a web browser so I could monitor what and when she posted.

Another recruiter to follow on Twitter is Recruiter Stefanie. This is especially important if you attended a character performer audition because all of that information comes through Stefanie. However, even if a recruiter you don't follow tweets something important, all of the other recruiters generally retweet one another. Another bonus for using Twitter over Facebook is the recruiters will answer any reasonable questions you may have.

Bonus Tip!

Another source I used while going through my application process was Reddit. All you need to do is search Disney College Program on Reddit and a plethora of threads will appear with people asking a variety of questions and responses in relation to the application process.

These are just some of the sources I know about or have personally used. There could be plenty more out there you just need to find them!
